Thursday December 10th
From 4pm to 9pm

After realizing that front and back are inventions you notice that the pigeons were flying backwards all
along. With a gaping hole in the world, the Confused turn to experience.
They continue producing.
Making becomes the choice to close the door and walk the multitude of long and distant internal hallways.
Insight still alludes the wonderer, but desire persists and when the cycle is broken there might be an
Exhibition or garage sale.
Post Mode is an exhibition of twelve young artists who’s diverse backgrounds, interests, and practices
converged at the Association of Independent College of Art and Design (AICAD) New York Studio
Residency back in September, 2015. Post Mode composes the result of three and a half months of
experimentation and deep inquiry.

The pedagogy delivered in seminars and studio visits in conjunction with a unique experience of New
York City challenged familiar constructions. Talk of rhizomatics, late Capitalism, and media studies jostled
previously well-founded notions of what art is and the systems it traffics.

These concepts expose that the mode is in our heads, inscribing subject and meaning onto vacant things.
The mode is a schema more ingrained than ideology but more cerebral than affect. It is an invisible thing
that becomes material, which we might call affirmation, accident, or art.
